#yugioh legendary knight Critias

How to start this... I ended up being in modern times and I'm slowly forgetting the past.

“Stop blaming Timaeus.”

Hermos leaned into the mare’s shoulder and sighed.

“He wanted to tell you and I convinced him not to. If you’re going to be angry at anyone, be angry at me.”

“Trust me, I never stopped being angry at you.”

Hermos turned to face the stall door. Critias was standing on the other side of it, arms at his sides, dressed rather simply. It wasn’t really his taste, especially as a former noble, but it flattered him well enough.

“Timaeus is still responsible for his decision, whether you influenced him or not.”

Timaeus the Knight of Destiny

Forgive the rating on this ahead of time, I just... Think it's so disappointing that (for an arc supposed to be focused on DRAGONS) they went ahead and said "oh those guys??? They weren't actually dragons. They're knights who look suspiciously like three of the MCs :)" I do like this fusion of the three (where it barely, if at all, looks like Yami's the one wearing the armor), even if perhaps it would've been cooler to see a triple dragon fusion (but I guess Yugioh does do a lot of that so). Super Saiyan Timaeus here doesn't exactly fuse the details of his three components as you would expect, instead sporting a gold coloration and a significantly upgraded and more intimidating version of Legendary Knight Timaeus' armor. His pose looks much more solid (and knightly) than any of the three individually. The dramatic cape flare is just a cool bonus to enhance his pose. I do very much enjoy the detail that the sword he has is clearly Legendary Knight Hermos', because that's where he got his infinite attack strength from in the anime. This detail is further emphasized by the giant golden infinity symbol behind him. It does look like Legendary Knight Critias had very little influence on the final design, however.

So apparently Timius, Critias, and Hermos are based on characters or dialogues of Plato’s Atlantis. So get this Timius is a fictional character who was an astronomer. Critias was apparently Plato’s great-grandfather (probably according to Plato) who was also Socrates student and was from Athens, also oftentimes mistaken for the tyrant oligarch Critias, and Hermos is based on Hermocrates the Syrucuse general.

All of this has given me so many headcanons.

Timius is Atlantis’ astonomer/magician knight. He is taught by Atlantean version of the Dark Magician whatever Mahad’s name would be in that era. Timius of the three knights is native born Atlantean. He is the one who brings Critias and Hermos together as a group. He saw the Atlantean rocks fall from the sky. Is the one to first witness it’s power and how it the Atlanteans later abuse the power of Atlantean rocks and become corrupt by them.

Critias (wow a lot for him). While I’m not sure if I would care to talk of his extended family. He’s a diplomat and politician. Hailed from Athens. Moved to Atlantis as representative to Athens and to keep peace between Ancient Athens and Atlantis. Since he’s one of the knights of Atlantis, he becomes this when he decides to try and save Atlantean people because he does not fault the  common people for Atlantis’ corruption on high. He falls in love with Atlantis and decides to live there. Despite this, when Atlantis becomes corrupt and tries to invade Athens, he does all he can to stop it. 

Hermos hailed from Syrucuse. Moved to Atlantis to serve as Atlantis protection by the Syrusan army in regard to their treaty as allies. He becomes general. Works with Critias and Timaeus to try and protect Atlantis from itself and foreigners. Like Critias he’s brilliant with rhetoric and despite his warrior nature is capable of ending conflicts before it instigates into violence. Is against Athens, so he and Critias clash a lot, especially when Critias is trying to maintain good diplomatic ties with Atlantis for Athens’ sake. Hermos doesn’t have a very good record with battles, but he is one of the greatest stumbling blocks that prevents Athenian generals from conquering his own homeland and contributes to the greatest victory against Athens. Again because of this Critias and him do not get along due to coming from rival countries who hate each other. Timius is pretty much the one who has to keep the peace.
